Diamonds are forever -a.k.a how to become awesome

A catchy headline, isn't it? There's a catch.

You know how diamonds are born, right? You have coal and you apply extreme pressure and temperature, and then something wonderful happens (the molecules align and group in a different way) and you then have a diamond.

Well, this is pretty much it.  This same thing can happen to people.

How? It depends. Either you grew up with that pressure or it was applied to you at a later stage. Or both. There are many ways to become a diamond. Polishing is the way you get to be awesome.

My favorite stories of the hardest matter on Earth, the diamonds, are people like Autism moms. They go through the wringer when learning how to cope with the outside world, their child, getting the support and help for their child that need it.... and just like any mom with children with special needs.. something wonderful happens and they turn into diamonds.  Just like real diamonds, they come in different shapes, colors, and flaws.

Yes, you may ask... how does this affect me, with no such challenges?  Well, if you want to become a diamond, you have to put your neck out and make a difference. No matter whether you're male or female, if you want to excel, you have to stand out, stand up and fight for what is right. Make a difference!

If you have always been privileged to have everything you need, good for you. But if there was ever a time where you had to stand up for something with the odds against you, you have hope.

On the other hand.. if you never had to fight for anything in your life, you're in immediate danger of becoming fully tasteless, colorless and odorless for the rest of your existence.  Just like water. Fancy drifting along where gravity tells you? Be my guest... but it will all end up with you at the bottom of the well, one day, and with no means to get up from there.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
Margaret Mead
If you want to matter, if you want to make a difference, take a stand. No matter what your cause, stand up and make a statement. Then you would have taken your fist step on the path to become a diamond.  You will have to take some heat first and feel the pressure, but nothing in life comes fully free of any cost.

Now, get out there, make the day worth it and make a difference!
